Got questions?

Membership

What’s included in a membership?

Full access to both the workshop and craft space, stocked with tools and materials. Also: safety guidance, flexible hours, member storage, community events, and surprise perks like swag and creative freebies.

What’s the difference between Roots and Founding memberships?

Roots is a one-time, lifetime membership with premium perks and a role in shaping The Space. Founding is a monthly membership offered during the early launch phase—with early access, full benefits, and less permanence.

What happens after the 10-month launch phase?

We’re starting in a temporary space while we build something long-term. Roots and Founding memberships carry over wherever we go next. We’ll keep you informed every step of the way.

Is there a time commitment?

Yes. All memberships begin with a 3-month commitment, then switch to monthly auto-renew. You can cancel any time after month three.

The Studio

We’re so excited to open our doors in the Hip Strip neighborhood—

one of Missoula’s most creative, community-driven corners.

It’s the perfect home for what we’re building.

What kinds of tools and supplies do you have?

A curated mix of woodworking tools, art supplies, adhesives, and creative odds and ends—always evolving based on member needs.

What if I’ve never used tools before?

That’s totally fine—and honestly, expected. We’re here to help you learn, safely and without shame.

Can I bring my own materials or tools?

Yes—bring what you need for your project!

Just note: You’re responsible for your own tools.

Sharing personal tools with other members isn’t allowed, for safety and liability reasons.

If you’re not sure about something, ask us first—we’ll talk it through.

Is there staff around to help me?

Yes. A studio manager (or trained badass) will always be around to help with safety questions, troubleshooting, and "what the hell is this setting on the drill?" moments.

Access + Hours

When can members come in?

We’re aiming for late evenings, weekends, and lots of open hours throughout the week. Most of the day, most days, will be accessible.

Exact hours will be announced closer to our September opening, and may evolve based on community needs.

Do you offer quiet or low-stimulation hours?

Yes. We offer rotating Vibe Hours so you can self-select the kind of creative energy that works for you:

Quiet & low-stim hours.

Open community time.

Loud, collaborative chaos (the fun kind).

We’re also actively working toward inclusive and sensory-aware access for all members.

Safety + Culture

Is there an orientation?

Yes—and it’s required for every member. Orientation includes basic safety, a tour, and expectations for shared space use.

After that, you can complete additional tool-specific training sessions.

Each one you complete unlocks more access and earns you some custom flair—because safety should be celebrated.

What are your rules around safety and behavior?

Be safe. Be kind. Don’t be a jerk.

We’ll have community agreements posted. Members sign off on safety and behavior expectations at orientation.

This is a space where people should feel brave—not just tolerated.

Is this a kid-friendly space?

The studio is designed for adults and older teens.

It’s not a childcare space or play area.

That said, we’ll offer occasional family-friendly events, and we’re open to creative collaborations for caregivers and families.

Workshops, Events, & Accessibility

Do you offer workshops or classes?

Yes! Some will be included in your membership, others may be add-ons.

Workshops will range from tool basics to weird crafts to community-focused creative events.

Can I teach or host something?

Maybe! We love offbeat ideas that align with our mission.

Want to lead a skill-share, teach a craft, or host a workshop?

Contact us—we’re working on our partnership and instructor process now.

Can I host an event here?

Possibly! If it’s creative, hands-on, or beautifully weird, we’re listening. Some ideas we love:

Holiday gift-making parties.

Decor marathons for weddings or big events.

DIY birthday parties.

Zine launches, swaps, or creative networking nights.

Contact us to talk through your idea.

Are you hiring or accepting volunteers?

Not quite yet—but we will be by the end of summer.

If you’re interested in working at The Space, we’d love to know you’re out there.

We're also building a system for bartered memberships and volunteer support during our launch phase.

If you're ready to pitch in or help us get the doors open, join the waitlist and check the volunteer box—or just reach out.

Do you offer scholarships or sliding scale options?

Yes—we’re building financial accessibility into our model.

This includes a sponsored membership fund and bartered memberships in exchange for time, services, or support (including things like design, photography, admin, and beyond).

If you’d like to contribute—or be considered—reach out. We’re building this together.

Still wondering about something?

We’re creating something new, and we know we won’t get everything right the first time.

If you’re curious, excited, nervous, or just need to talk it out—reach out.
