The Space is Missoula’s hands-on DIY studio for makers, crafters, artists, and the creatively curious. We provide the tools, workspace, safety guidance, and vibes—so you can build, paint, tinker, and try without needing a garage or a shopping spree. Whether you're an experienced woodworker or just want to see what a jigsaw can do, you belong here.
What We Are
We’re not a co-working space. Not a craft store. Not an art school. We’re something better—a judgment-free creative studio where adults can get messy, make magic, and try something new.
Our members use
The Space for everything from surrealist art to custom shelves, resin pours, protest signs, handmade gifts, zines, and experimental furniture. We’ve got sawdust in one corner, glitter in another, and weird ideas everywhere.
Why We Exist
Because creativity isn’t a luxury—it’s a survival skill. Because most of us don’t have the space, tools, or time to figure it all out alone. Because a big table, the right tools, and a little permission to try can change everything.

Getting Started
What is The Space?
The Space is a membership-based DIY studio for adults. We provide tools, materials, workspace, safety support, and creative community—so you can make cool stuff without needing to convert your kitchen into a woodshop.
Should I join?
If you’ve ever said, “I’d love to try that, but I don’t have the space/tools/time,” then yes. You don’t have to be an artist. You don’t have to know what you’re doing. You just have to want to try.
Can I just drop in and use the space?
Yes! We’re currently refining what drop-in access will look like so we can prioritize safety, sustainability, and a great experience for our Founding and Roots members.
